The Sri Lankan national men's beach handball team made history by winning the first-ever silver medal for Sri Lanka in handball at the inaugural Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship, held in the Maldives from 18 to 22 September 2025.
The 13th Defence Services Athletics Championship 2025 was held on 29 and 30 September 2025 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama. Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Deputy Chief of Staff, graced the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Nadeesha of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, the renowned 400m National Champion, has been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the IAAF World Athletics Championship, scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan, from 13 to 21 September 2025. She is the only Sri Lankan female athlete to qualify for this prestigious global event.
