The Sri Lankan national men's beach handball team made history by winning the first-ever silver medal for Sri Lanka in handball at the inaugural Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship, held in the Maldives from 18 to 22 September 2025.
Teams participated in the event representing six countries including Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh, India and South Africa.
During the league phase, Sri Lanka secured second place with six points. In the semi-final match, Sri Lanka defeated the host nation Maldives with scores of 14:12 and 24:14, earning a place in the final.
In the final, Sri Lanka played against Pakistan, who won with scores of 26:18 and 28:18. The silver medal is the first international medal for Sri Lanka in Commonwealth beach handball.
