Major General H.D.K Heiyantuduwa RWP RSP of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, who held the appointment of Minister Counsellor (Defence) at the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, Pakistan, just days before his retirement from the Army was invited to the office of the Army Chief, together with his family members on Wednesday (29). During the meeting, Major General H.D.K Heiyantuduwa RWP RSP, who has served the Army for more than 34 years in an exemplary manner, received appreciative compliments and words of commendation from the Army Chief who also spoke highly of his working capacity, commitment and dedication to the Army as a member of the Infantry family.

The United Nations Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) team, now in Sri Lanka for assessing more possibilities of Sri Lankan forces, involved in UN Peace assignments in future in Mali called at the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) in Kukuleganga on Friday (24). The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Gajaba Regiment (GR) Veterans' Association got underway on Sunday (26) at Battaramulla ‘Ape Gama’ premises with the participation of a gathering of former 'Keterians' who made the Regiment proud and admiring. General Kamal Gunarathne (Retd) Secretary to the Ministry of Defence attended the occasion as a distinguished guest, together with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva and the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage.

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage at the invitation of the Commandant, Defence Service Command and Staff College (DSCSC) at Sapugaskanda on Thursday (23 March) visited the DSCSC in order to receive updates on its functional aspects. The day’s Chief Guest, saluted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the DSCSC was welcomed afterwards by Major General B.K.G.M.L Rodrigo RSP psc IG, Commandant DSCSC. The Army Chief, together with Major General D.G.S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, Deputy Chief of Staff afterwards sat for group photographs as memories of his visit to the location.

The United Nations (UN) Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) team, currently in Sri Lanka in order to evaluate the Operational Readiness Preparations for an additional ‘Combat Convoy Company B-1’ (CCC) to serve in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) as part of their itinerary arrived at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) at Embilipitiya on Thursday (23 March). The UN delegation included Mr. James Victor De Rcole, Colonel Lawrence Kapina, Lieutenant Colonel Rajeev, Mr. Mark Flood and Mr. Satvinder Singh Paul who were received on arrival by Colonel Krishan Manoharan, Commandant, SLSME.

The first batch of women de-miners of the Army who have completed the internationally-acclaimed Humanitarian De-mining Course of high standards had the privilege of getting their insignia pinned from the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage after they were invited to the Army HQ on Wednesday (22).
