  • Army Rescues Two Australians


    Two Australians aboard a sail boat, blown into the Mullaitivu seas due to strong winds were rescued by the Sri Lanka Army Sunday (5) afternoon, Disaster Management Centre Deputy Director (Media) Sarath Lal Kumara said. He said the Police also supported the rescue mission. The duo were rescued in the seas off Chalai, Mullaitivu.

    Showing his deep sense of gratitude to the primary school where he was moulded during preliminary stages of education, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on Monday (6), gifted Siyambalangamuwa Kanishta Vidyalaya (Junior school) with a new playground, prepared by Army troops, close to the school premises.

    School accessories containing school books, bags and stationeries were distributed among 75 students in Veherathenna, Kambiliwewa, Kohombagaswewa and Koonwewa villages during a brief ceremony, organized by the 62 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ - W) in Veherathenna on Saturday (4).

  • Eastern Troops Formally Begin First Working Day


    Troops serving the Security Force Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E) symbolically commenced their  first working day 2014.  Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E on January (1) raised the National flag, followed by the reading of the State Service Commitment pledge and the New Year Message 2014 of Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army. Meanwhile, Commander, SFHQ – E visited the Army Ward at Polonnaruwa District Hospital and distributed gift parcels among patients. Day’s events ended after a Bodhi Puja, held at the temple at SFHQ –E.
  • Troops Assist Eastern People


    Troops serving the Security Force Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E) recently conducted a number of programmes to support the civilians living in the east. Book donations for pre-school and other students, 'Shramadana' campaigns, etc were among a few of them. 27 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops serving to 222 Brigade and 22 Division organized a Shramadhana campaign to clean the Siththi Vinayagar Swami Kovil area.
