  • SLLI 'Paabala Melaa' Begins at Hikkaduwa


    ‘Paabala Melaa’, the Sri Lanka Light Infantry’s (SLLI) Trade Fair and Carnival for fund-raising,  was declared opened by  Major General Amal Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI as the chief guest at Hikkaduwa public ground today (19) at 2.00 p.m. Several Senior Officers and Other Ranks, together with a large gathering participated in the event.

  • Tallest X'mas Tree in Kilinochchi Boosts Festive Spirits


    Cementing bonds of goodwill, brotherhood, reconciliation and cultural diversity, hundreds of civilians in Kilinochchi, joined hands together with the troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) to mark Christmas in a record manner by Army troops erecting Asia’s tallest X’mas tree in the heart of Kilinochchi. Troops at the SFHQ-KLN, as they did in the previous year too, put up the tallest and the largest X’mas tree.....
     
  • Expatriate Donates Computers to 55 Division


    Australia-resident Engineer, Mr Anura Wijesinghe, a close relative of Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), giving his helping hand for promotion of IT knowledge of all ranks in the 55 Division, recently donated 10 computers to the 55 Division Headquarters.

    Troops serving 3 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) under 241 Brigade of 24 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) recently organized a Shramadana campaign to clean the drainage system in Kalmunai Town. The programme received the support of civilians in the area. Meanwhile, the 22 Division Headquarters in Trincomalee arranged a two-day educational trip to Colombo for 50.....

  • 'Rana Sura Padakkama' (RSP) Awarded to 1718 More VIR War Heroes


    Sri Lanka Vijayaba Infantry Regiment (VIR), one of the most prestigious infantry units of the Army, honoured one more segment of 1718 War Heroes by awarding ‘Rana Sura Padakkama’ (RSP) gallantry medals during a ceremony at VIR’s ‘Salute Reception’ hall at VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane.
     
  • Tamil Woman Soldiers Pass Out in Glittering Ceremony


    The passing-out parade of 55 woman recruits, including 45 Tamil woman soldiers, who completed the initial three-month training in the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC), took place at 4 Sri Lanka Signal Corps parade ground at Anuradhapura in a glittering flood-lit ceremony on Wednesday (18).  
     
     
  • Glittering SLMA Ceremony Commissions 113 More Cadet Officers



    One more batch of 113 Cadet Officers, including two Maldivian cadets, affiliated to Intakes 77, 77B, Lady Intake 12/10 C and Volunteer Intake 53 who newly received their commissions at the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) at Diyatalawa, passed out on Saturday (21) during a colourful and elegant Passing out Parade (PoP).
