Troops serving 3 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) under 241 Brigade of 24 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) recently organized a Shramadana campaign to clean the drainage system in Kalmunai Town.
The programme received the support of civilians in the area.
Meanwhile, the 22 Division Headquarters in Trincomalee arranged a two-day educational trip to Colombo for 50 students of the Trincomalee Educational Zone.
The students visited important places in Colombo such as the Colombo Harbour, National Museum and Planetarium during two-days (Dec 10 – 11).
In the meantime, 22 VIR troops of the 222 Brigade of 22 Division came forward to help school students by distributing school accessories among 153 students in Kallar area and 6 wheelchairs among disable civilians in Kantale and Serunuwara areas.
The donation was sponsored by Ven Galigamuwe Gnanadeepa Thero at Bodhirajarama Temple.
On same day at Sarasvathi School, troops distributed readymade garments to 50 low-income families in Thanganagar.
Meanwhile, in order to enlighten people on floods and other natural disasters, the 223 Brigade Headquarters under the 23 Division recently, conducted a one-day workshop for civilians selected from those vulnerable areas, assisted by District Disaster Management Centre - Polonnaruwa.
In the meantime, senior lawyer Mr. Gomin Dayasiri delivered a lecture on “13th Amendment and Its implications” to the officers serving the SFHQ-E on Wednesday (18).
More than 240 officers together with Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers in the area attended the programme.
In the same manner, troops of the 232 Brigade area under the 23 Division distributed Christmas presents among kids at Kadumbimalei pre-school & students of Kumaran Vidyalaya who had taken part in competitions in the school.
During a Dengue prevention programme launched in Kokkadichole area, military personnel of 8 Gemunu Watch (GW) joined with the civilians to clean Periyauppadi Cultural Centre area, in the wake of increase of Dengue cases.
