  • Medical Officers Conduct Clinic for Army Personnel

     
    The Medical Officer in charge of the Vedihiti Sarana Centre at Kilinochchi organized a special clinic and offered consultations to officers and other ranks serving the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi on Tuesday (5). Over 350 Army personnel received medical advice from a few Medical Officers who have specialized in eye diseases and other ailments during this clinic.   • Jaffna's Final Phase of Resettlement Completed as 297 Families Return Home

     
    The final cluster of families, displaced during LTTE terrorism went back to their original homesteads in Vadamarachchi east Sunday (03) bringing curtains down on resettlement of the displaced in the Jaffna peninsula.     Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army during a four-day (July 4 - 8) long formal visit to Brunei Darussalam to attend the ‘BRIDEX - 2011 Conference’ had a rare audience with the Sultan of Brunei, His Majesty Haji Hassanal Bolkiah from the sidelines of the main event. Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonatilake and Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal H.D. Abeywickrama were also present at this Conference as delegates of the Sri Lankan team.

    ‘Gunner Supercross - 2011’, the sporting pride of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) got underway at Minneriya Artillery Complex tracks on Sunday (10) to a packed crowd of more than 25000 - 30000 sport enthusiasts and motor racing fans. The exciting event, organized for the 6th consecutive time was held in collaboration with Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDR). Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army graced the occasion as Chief Guest, accompanied by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB).
