  • Troops Help Tilling Land for Cultivators

    With the aim of raising income generating avenues for newly resettled Tamil people in areas under the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), troops of the 25 Gajaba Regiment on the directions of the Commander, (SFHQ-KLN), conducted the soil preparations free of charge in an area of about 25 acres for cultivation of gherkin.   • Commander, Chief Guest at Inter-Regiment Boxing Championship

    The Inter-Regiment Boxing Championship - 2011, organized by the Army Boxing Committee came to a close at Panagoda Army Cantonment gymnasium on Thursday (23) with the participation of 14 Regiments and 3 Women Corps teams. The final tussle for championship was witnessed by Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army who himself has been a veteran in boxing. He graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Boxers from Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment.....
  • 121 Brigade Troops Sing Devotional Songs


    Troops serving 121 Brigade in Boossa, Galle contributed their share to Poson commemoration by conducting a mobile Bhakthi Gee (devotional songs) recitation at different key points in the port city of Galle. The float with singers performed in Unawatuna Bonavista Elders’ Home, Galle Prison Headquarters, Galle Police Station, Southern Naval Command and at 121 Brigade Headquarters premises until late into the night on Poson Poya Day.
     
  • Wheelchair Basketball Trophy Goes to Gajaba Regiment


    The Inter Regiment Sports Committee for the Disable had its wheelchair tournament on Thursday (23) evening at Sri Lanka Light Infantry basketball court at Panagoda. Twelve disable teams under ten medically categorized sports events every year hold this tournament for disable War Heroes affected with different types of physical disabilities, following serious injuries sustained in the brutal LTTE terrorism in the past 30 years.
     
  • Jaffna Security Forces Headquarters Marks Its 15th Anniversary


    The North based Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) recently marked its 15th year of national service after founding as the prime military establishment that fought against terrorism and provided security to the Jaffna peninsula and her populace. Directed by Commander, Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, SFHQ-J, a string of commemorative activities, including multi-religious observances were organized by officers.....
     
  • 51 Div Installs Water Purifying Machine for Public Use


    A water purifying machine was installed for supply of drinking water to Selvapuram villagers in Kopay area recently at the request of the 51 Division General Officer Commanding Major General Janaka Walgama in Jaffna. The installation of it was done inside the 51 Division Headquarters for the purpose of maintenance and a separate tap was made available to the village area from one corner end of the camp premises. It was commissioned on Poson poya day. 
  • INGO & NGO Reps Meet Kilinochchi Commander


    A special discussion to review different types of development and community oriented programmes of the INGOs and NGOs and also to resolve any issues, pertaining to their roles, was recently held at the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ - KLN). Major General Nandana Udawatte, Commander, SFHQ - KLN presided the meeting, attended by representatives of the UN, International Committee of the Red Cross, all de-mining teams and a few other relief organizations.

    The ceremonial passing out parade (PoP) of 177 Officer Cadets who successfully completed their training at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), took place on Saturday (25), amidst a gathering of distinguished military officers, including Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal W.D.R.M.J Goonetilake as Chief Guest and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
