  • Sri Lanka Sets Demining Record


    Sri Lanka has been able to set a record by demining more than 96 percent of a vast area that was strewn with explosives by a terrorist organization over a period of three decades, said Military Spokesman and Director of Defence and Urban Development Ministry Media Centre Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya. He said that there was only a 79 square Kilometre area in the forestry areas in North and East to be cleared out of a total of 2064 square Kilometres of confirmed Hazardous Area.


  • Newly Constructed SLASC Facility Complex Opens at 61 Division


    Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) declared open the newly constructed Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) facility complex at 61 Division on Tuesday (30). Under the guidance of Brigadier D.M.W.W.W.M.R.B.M Dawulagala, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 61 Division, the building to provide supply and transport facilities was constructed.
     
  • Community Service Projects of 'Success' Supported


    The ‘Success’ organization, chaired by Dr Anula Wijesundara once again gave its helping hand to Halambewewa and Veherathenna resettled villagers by way of donating push bicycles to students, computers, dry ration packs, etc, following coordination done by 622 Brigade under the Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W).
     
  • Int' Children's Day Marked in Kilinochchi

     
    Two elaborate events in connection with the International Children’s Day got underway at Nelum Piyasa and Harmony Centre at Kilinochchi on Wednesday (1) on the theme ‘Protect Us with Love’. Fun-filled and merry-making activities, games and variety entertainments that were staged by more than 800 school students from the area in both these places dominated the events, attended by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).
