DG Infantry Speaks to Officers on Infantry Roles

A conference, convened by the office of the Director General Infantry with the participation of 45 Commanding Officers and Second in Commands from Armour, Artillery, Signals, National Guard, Rifle and Women’s Corps Battalions on Infantry role, got underway on Wednesday (1), chaired by Major General L.W.C.B.B Rajaguru, Director General Infantry.
 
It was the first time that a gathering of so many officers on Infantry role arrived at the Infantry Headquarters for an interactive session of this nature where a gamut of issues, related to infantry duties, unification of all battalions, infantry regiment affiliations, roles and tasks of the new Infantry Directorate, Battalion Training, future challenges and planning programmes, divisional deployments, requirements of battalion training schools, present training predicaments, etc, were taken up for discussion during the conference.
 
Major General Rajaguru who sorted out certain concerns, raised by the participants on the spot, assured that all steps would be taken to improve infantry roles in the coming year in consultation with the Commander of the Army.
