    Sri Lanka Army Taekwondo players swept the Defence Services Taekwondo Tournament, held during May 19-21 and clinched the overall championship in both men and women categories. Large crowds thronged the indoor stadium at Ministry of Sports on the final day as Army Taekwondo players met with their rivals.

    Guna Jaya Sathuta Padanama’ (Goodness Foundation) of Mr Kushil Perera, committed to the welfare of school children and poor civilians in Wanni areas, once again donated 25 push bicycles and a big stock of school accessories to underprivileged students in 611 Brigade area of the 61 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) in Vavuniya.
  • Monks & Clergy of Major Faiths Watch Jaffna Vesak Celebrations


    Nearly 144 Buddhist monks from the south including Ven Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Thero, Chancellor, University of Kelaniya visited the Vesak Zone, organized by the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) covering major towns in Jaffna. In addition, Hindu, Catholic and Islamic clergy joined Buddhist monks to see the Vesak celebrations in the peninsula.
  • Sendoff Honours Presented to Major General Medawela


    A Guard Turn Out plus a Guard of Honour saluted the outgoing Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) Major General U.A.B Medawela on Thursday (22) at Rondow grounds at Diyatalawa. Major General U.A.B Medawela is to assume duties as the new Commander, Security Force Headquarters - West after relinquishing his appointment as the Commander SFHQ-C.

  • New Volunteer Force Commandant Takes Over


    Major General S.W.L Daulagala, the newly appointed Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) assumed office on Friday (23) morning during a brief ceremony, held at SLAVF Headquarters in Kosgama. A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour saluted the new Commandant in accordance with military formalities after he was welcomed on arrival at the premises.

    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army Sunday (25) evening paid homage to the most sacred Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy and fulfilled a religious vow he made to the sacred place during the 64th Army anniversary in October last year.
  • Programme Reminds Civilians of Mine Risks


    Nearly 200 civilians, exposed to mine risks in Nagarkovil West and Kudatthanai areas were alerted to mine awareness lectures after summoning them to common centers in respective areas. Those two awareness programmes, conducted by 10 Field Sri Lanka Engineers under the Disaster Mitigation Project got underway in Nagarkovil and Kudatthanai where those civilians were educated on land mines and Unexploded Explosive Ordnance.
