  • Somalia's Minister Pays Courtesy Call


    Mr Khalid Omar Ali, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs in Somalia, currently visiting Sri Lanka at the invitation of the government, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake Friday (9) evening. The brief meeting focused on bilateral matters of security and other issues, relevant to both countries.

  • New Abode, Built by Army Engineers for Monks Opened


    The newly-constructed ‘Sanghawasaya’ (abode for resident monks) at Rankethgama Rajamaha Viharaya in Rankethgama, Vavuniya where more than 71 resettled families live, was ceremonially opened on Saturday (10). Rankethgama temple of historic value was destroyed by LTTE terrorists many years ago and remained abandoned until former villagers returned to Rankethgama for resettlement after a government facilitated their resettlement.
