Exhibition of Paintings to Bring Relief to Dependent War Heroes


An exhibition of paintings, ‘Sith Ru Udaana’ for the mental relief of the inmates at Attidiya Mihindu Seth Medura, got underway on Thursday (8), following initiatives taken by Directorate of Psychological Operations at Army Headquarters.

Those paintings done by veterans, Mr Bandula Harishchandra and Mrs Kusum Mangalika, depict a wide range of topical subjects covering nature, events, culture, rural settings, etc and bring mental tranquility.

The two-day exhibition was opened by Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, Director, Directorate of Psychological Operations.

Several senior officers and Army Seva Vanitha Unit members participated in the inauguration ceremony.

More than 50 permanently disable War Heroes have been accommodated at this wellness resort for rehabilitation and recovery and the place is run by the Army.
