  • New Kilinochchi Commander Talks to His Officers & Other Ranks


    Major General G.V.D.U.A Perera, who assumed office as the new Commander, Security Forces Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on Monday (2) amidst military honours and multi-religious blessings, addressed all General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders and Unit Commanders on Wednesday (4). He replaced Major General Crishantha De Silva who is expected to take up a new appointment shortly.

    A Chinese military delegation, currently in Sri Lanka on a friendly familiarization tour, called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at his office on Thursday (5) morning.     Students of low-income families, attending Dimbulana Kanishta Vidyalaya in Welikanda Divisional Secretariat area recently received school books and accessories as gifts, following an initiative taken by Old Boys Association of Mahinda College, Galle.     A large stock of household accessories such as bed sheets, linen, towels, first aid medicine and boxes, soap, toothpaste, was distributed among 100 families in Karipattamurippu and Kanagarathnapuram villages in the 643 Brigade Headquarters area under the 64 Division at Muttiyankaddukulam, following coordination done by Army troops on Sunday (July 1).
