  • Army Cyclist Secures 3rd Place in Air Force Cycle Race


    Twelve cyclists of the Army who took part in the three-day long (March 15-17) ‘Air Force Cycle Tour’ organized by Sri Lanka Air Force did well and carried away prizes and certificates. Of them Lance Corporal Lakshman Wijerathne of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) secured the third place covering all three stages of the cycle race. The race started from Colombo toured Puttalam, Kurunegala and Dambulla areas and ended up in Colombo covering a distance of about 457 kms.....

    Hundreds of Mannar based soldiers, generally, associated with the possession of a gun as part of their duty commitments, gave a short respite to it last week and entered the paddy fields with a sickle to reap what they sowed. 542 Brigade troops in Mannar covering about 1.5 acres in the famous ‘Mannar Rice Bowl’ area cultivated barren fields and nurtured the crops for more than three months.....
