  • SFHQ-E Opens New Corporals' Club


    The newly-built Corporals’ Club of the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) was declared opened by Major General N.J. Walgama, Commander, SFHQ-E on Tuesday (28). The new Club was built within four months with the assistance of the troops of 3 Engineer Service Regiment (ESR). Officers and other ranks of the SFHQ-E attended the event.
  • SFHQ-W Commander Visits Several Logistics Battalions


    Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters – Wanni recently visited several Logistic Battalions in the SFHQ-W area in order to review their roles. Major General Perera visited the 5th Battalion Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) at Saliyapura and 2nd Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) at Tisa Wewa. The Commanding Officers of 5 SLEME and 2 ESR warmly welcomed the visiting SF Commander.....

  • Major General H.S Hapuarachchi (Rtd) Passes Away


    Major General H.S Hapuarachchi (Rtd), a veteran in the Sri Lanka Army and his regiment, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), passed away on Tuesday (5) at the age of 72 years after a distinguished military career of more than 33 years. His funeral with military honours takes place on Thursday (7) at Polgahawela General Cemetery crematorium at 3 p.m. His remains lie at No 101, ‘Sisila’ Bangalawatta, Dewalegama.

  • Sri Lankan Troops in Lebanon Bring 'Vesak' Spirits to the Area


    Sri Lanka’s 9th Army contingent serving the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) brought homely sentiments into their camp by commemorating the Vesak festival at Nequra camp, South Lebanon. By erecting a colourful replica of a big Dagoba (pagoda) and several lanterns in the UNIFIL Sri Lanka Battalion (SRIBAT) camp on account of the Vesak commemoration, the troops received the attention of the people.....
     
  • Sri Lankan Relief Contingent in Nepal Shares 'Vesak' Blessings with Victims

     
     
    The Sri Lankan Army, Navy and Air Force troops, currently engaged in relief work in Nepal, on the sidelines of their humanitarian services, took time off to commemorate the ‘Thrice Blessed Day’ (Vesak) by organizing alms-giving and Dhamma sermon programmes in Dhyankutivihar of Banepa city on May 4, the day which Nepal commemorated Vesak.
     
  • 57 Division Has Its Own Buddha Shrine


    The newly constructed Buddha shrine at the 57 Division Headquarters premises, was opened on account of Vesak Poya Day on Sunday (3) during a brief religious ceremony. Brigadier H. J. Seneviratne, General Officer Commanding, 57 Division ceremonially opened the shrine with the participation of officers and other rankers at the Headquarters.
  • 'Abimansala - 3' First Anniversary Marked with Religious Observances


    The ‘Abimansala - 3’, the wellness resort for dependent War Heroes of the North Western Province at Pangolla, Kurunegala, bordering Deduru Oya turned one year old on 25 April. To mark the first birthday, the administration, together with 47 dependent inmates, commemorated the first anniversary with religious arrangements.

    An orientation programme for officers serving in formations under the Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) who are scheduled to appear for promotion and selection examinations, commenced on Tuesday (5) at the Kaluaggala Army Camp on the guidelines given by the Directorate of Training at the Army Headquarters.
