  • New Nursery for Malayalapuram Children Opened


    A newly built nursery at Malayalapuram with the financial support of Mr. S.K Nadan, a businessmen and with the manpower of the troops of the 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), was declared open by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander Security Forces Headquarters-Killinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on Sunday (18).

  • Meeriyabedde Students Get School Accessories


    Guna Jaya Sathuta Padanama’ (Goodness Foundation) once again launched its humanitarian assistance project, distributing a large stock of school accessories among students who are residing at the Poonagala Relief Center on Monday (19). During the event, 80 students who lost their inhabitants due to the recent landslide in Koslande-Meeriyabedde were given gift parcels containing school accessories, shoes and uniforms, plus a cheque to the value of Rs 1000/=.
  • New State Minister for Defence Visits Mihindu Seth Medura Dependent War Heroes

     
    Minister of State for Defence, Mr Ruwan Wijewardene in order to be familiar with rehabilitation centres where dependent War Heroes are housed, went to Attidiya-based Mihindu Seth Medura, together with a few MoD officials on Wednesday (21) evening. During his stay at the healing house, he freely spoke to the inmates and received a firsthand account of the roles and tasks from the management of the Mihindu Seth Medura before he met with those War Heroes.
     
  • Brigadier K.J Jayaweera Appointed, New Military Spokesman & Director MoD Media Centre


    Brigadier K.J Jayaweera, currently the Director, Directorate of Media at Army Headquarters has been appointed temporarily as new Military Spokesman, Director Training & Coordination and Spokesman-Media Centre, Ministry of Defence and Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) with immediate effect, in addition to his present duties at the Army Headquarters. Former Military Spokesman, Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya, who was holding above appointments, has been attached to the Army Headquarters with immediate effect.   
  • Memory of Military Intelligence Corps Refreshed in Fitting Tribute Ceremony at its Hqrs



    The memory of 66 fallen members of the Military Intelligence Corps (MIC) of the Sri Lanka Army, who rendered a yeoman silent service during the humanitarian operations while operating as an indispensable unit, was refreshed and venerated on Friday (23) at a fitting tribute and commemorative ceremony that got underway at the MIC Regimental Headquarters.......
  • Army Recruits Mullaittivu Youths as Tradesmen


    Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) recently enlisted thirty four young Tamil youth to the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) from Mullaittivu area and commenced recruit training for them at Pudukuduirippu Battalion Training School on Monday (26) under the directions of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT. The recruit training will continue for 16 weeks under the supervision of the 15 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA).
     
  • Commander Pays Formal Courtesy Call on New Defence Minister


    Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army in accordance with military formalities, paid a courtesy call on the new Hon. Minister of State for Defence Mr Ruwan Wijewardene at the Ministry of Defence this morning (19). Lieutenant General Ratnayake after presenting a replica of a silver-plated sword, symbolic of the Army and its bravery .....
  • Needy Students & Civilians Given School Items & Clothes

    Troops of  the 15 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) under the 651 Brigade of the 65 Division under the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) distributed school stationery and a stock of readymade garments among 18 students, learning in Grades 3 and 7 and also among 15 civilians  in Kaneshapuram, Vellamkulam and Thevaipiddi areas during Tuesday and Wednesday (20 -21).

  • Welikanda Maha Vidyalaya Students Get More Books To Their Library


    Welikanda  Maha Vidyalaya library on Thursday (22) received a stock of  176 books, useful to students following  coordination done by  Lieutenant Colonel W.R.J Makawita, Civil Affairs Coordinating Officer at the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E). Seen as another humanitarian project for the benefit of students living in the area, the project has got the blessings of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E.
  • 53 Division Troops Assist Flood Victims in Dambulla and Palugaswewa

    Troops under the 53 Division Headquarters on the directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Rathnayake, offered assistance to flood-affected families in the Dambulla and Palugaswewa Division Secretariat areas for re-construction, renovation or repair work by providing manpower or building raw materials.
