Troops under the 53 Division Headquarters on the directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Rathnayake, offered assistance to flood-affected families in the Dambulla and Palugaswewa Division Secretariat areas for re-construction, renovation or repair work by providing manpower or building raw materials.
A house thus reconstructed at Palugaswewa was handed over to the owner on Wednesday (21).
Similarly, 8 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops reconstructed four more houses and distributed raw materials for renovation among 28 households in Dambulla in the final week of December.
General Officer Commanding, 53 Division coordinating such work with local authorities carried out these humanitarian projects with the support of affected people in respective areas.
