  • Ex-LTTE Family Members Get Eye Sights Examined


    Troops serving the 222 Brigade Headquarters at Jayanthigama, Kantale in the hope of assisting civilians with eye sight ailments, recently had a mobile eye clinic organized at Ichchalanpattu rural hospital in Kantale. This eye clinic mainly treated civilians of 65 former ex-LTTE families of the LTTE, now resident in this area, together with other civilians and was managed by several eye surgeons, headed by Consultant Eye Surgeon Dr. T.R. Edirisinghe.
  • Governors Meet Up in Jaffna


    Governors of all 9 provinces in the country assembled together in Jaffna for conduct of their ‘XV Governors’ Conference’ a few days ago. The conference, chaired by Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri, Governor for Northern Province at the invitation of the Western Province Governor, was inaugurated at Tilko Jaffna City Hotel in accordance with Hindu religious traditions.

In fact, it was Major General (Retd) G.A Chandrasiri, Governor for Northern Province at the invitation of Governor for Western Province who chaired the sessions.
  • Army Organized Students' 3rd 'Reading Camp' Held in Jaffna


    The third round of the ‘Reading Camp’, organized by 55 Division Headquarters at Vettalakerni, Jaffna got under way at Udaththurai Maha Vidyalaya for two consecutive days (Nov 19 & 20) with the participation of about 125 students of 13 schools in the district. This novel ‘Reading Camp’ project, being implemented in the 55 Division area.....
  • Two New Telephone Boxes Installed

    Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) got two new Tritel telephone boxes installed in the heart of Kilinochchi town as one more community-oriented project. In the presence of Tritel officials and a gathering of civilians, 571 Brigade Commander opened these two new telephone boxes at the request of Tritel management on Wednesday (21).

  • Parliamentary Delegation of Czech Republic Speaks to Jaffna Commander


    A visiting delegation of the Czech Republic during a tour to the Jaffna peninsula met Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Wednesday (21).  Major General Hathurusinghe during the brief meeting with them explained the Army’s diverse roles in the post-war Jaffna and reconciliation efforts.
  • Senior Citizens Facilitated During Tour


    Security Forces Headquarters - South (SFHQ-S) offered its assistance to the members of the Homagama - Godagama ‘Deergayu Senior Citizens’ Association when they all were on a pilgrimage to Kandy, Kataragama, Mahiyanganaya and Muthiyangana areas. During their stops in the south, 10 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops under 122 Brigade Headquarters provided free lunch to them on Sunday (11) and refreshments....
  • SFHQ-KLN Gets New IT Unit to Kilinochchi Madya Maha Vidyalaya

  • Army Files Two Defamation Cases Against 'Uthayan' and 'Valampuri'


    Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on Friday (23) filed action against ‘Uthayan’ and ‘Valampuri’ newspapers for defamation, claiming Rs 100 million each in damages. These two newspapers on July 11, 2012 published two articles, concerning the Commander of the Army, Sri Lanka Army and several senior Army officers which were of highly defamatory in nature. Both cases are to be taken up at District Court of Jaffna on January 21, 2013.
