  • SLASC & SLAGSC Beach Volleyball Teams Shine in First Inter Regiment Tournament


    Inter Regiment Beach Volleyball Tournament, organized for the first time by the Army Volleyball Committee, got recently underway at beach-type pitch at Sri Lanka Army General Services Corps (SLAGC) ground with the participation of 28 male teams and 4 women’s teams representing 15 Regiments in the Army. SLAGSC for the first time produced two female teams to the tournament.
  • Private Company Builds Two Pre-Schools at Army Request


    Army troops serving Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) with the patronage received from Hemas Pvt Ltd volunteered to build two pre-schools in areas, close to the Mullaittivu town centre. Mr Abbas Yusuf Ali and Mrs Shiromi Masakorale of Hemas Pvt Ltd at the invitation of Colonel W.A.S.S Wanasinghe, Colonel General Staff at 59 Division, arrived in Mullaittivu for a visit in May and saw for themselves......
  • 59 Div Troops Put Up Three More Houses for the Poor


    59 Division Headquarters in Mullaittivu with the support of several donor organizations and donors, contributed to the construction of three new houses for three down-trodden families in the area. Those three Army-built houses at Silawatta, Mulliyaweli Kumarapuram and Mulliyaweli West areas were opened recently during three separate ceremonies, organized by the Army troops.....
  • Affected Kilinochchi Families Given Relief Packets


    Troops, attached to the Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) responding to the immediate needs of the people, affected by torrential rains, launched several relief measures on the directions given by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-KLN. More than 200 families, hit by rainy water and floods in Kilinochchi, Thunukkai, Theniyankulam, Koddakadaviyarkulam, Ambalaperumalkulam and Amaithapuram, were given packets of dry rations....

  • VIR 'Ranaviru' Monument Dedicated to Eternal Memory


    At the invitation of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development as the Chief Guest, unveiled the new ‘Ranaviru’ Monument at Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Headquarters at Boyagane and dedicated it to the eternal memory of all those VIR fallen War Heroes during a simple ceremony on Saturday (3).

    Hundreds of villagers in and around new ‘Abimansala-2’ (wellness resort for dependent war heroes) complex at Wilpitawatte, Kamburupitiya, taking their own initiative and showing overwhelming support, participated in a mammoth Shramadana campaign Sunday (4) morning and cleaned the entire wellness resort premises, ahead of its ceremonial opening on November 10, 2012.
