Affected Kilinochchi Families Given Relief Packets


Troops, attached to the Security Forces Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) responding to the immediate needs of the people, affected by torrential rains, launched several relief measures on the directions given by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-KLN.

More than 200 families, hit by rainy water and floods in Kilinochchi, Thunukkai, Theniyankulam, Koddakadaviyarkulam, Ambalaperumalkulam and Amaithapuram, were given packets of dry rations, cooked meals, together with sanitary-ware, each worth more than Rs. 1500/=.

Thunukkai Divisional Secretary Mr S. Gunapalan and Mr V. Sabahathevan of PACAA non-governmental organization supported the distribution of those items among the victims in coordination with the SFHQ-KLN.
    
In addition, troops attended to the repairs and reconstruction work, caused by ravaging waters in the area and supported to restore normalcy after helping affected civilians in Kilinochchi.

By appointing an emergency committee and issuing specific instructions to all Commanding Officers, Brigade Commanders and the General Officers Commanding in the SFHQ-KLN, relief work in affected areas was streamlined as poor weather turned worse.
