  • Trincomalee Troops Mark Army Day


    22 Division Headquarters in Trincomalee marked Army Day (October 10) and 63rd Army Anniversary with a series of commemorative projects, including a tree planting campaign. Early morning on Army Day, after the Commander’s message was read out, Brigadier Mahinda Weerasooriya, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division together with Colonel B.A.L Ratnayake, Staff Officer I, other officers and soldiers planted 250 tree saplings in the 22 Division....

  • 211 Brigade Organized Ceremony Gifts School Uniforms


    A stock of school uniforms, donated by Mr and Mrs Gamini Kariyawasam of Angulana, Moratuwa to the 211 Brigade Headquarters under Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni were given away to 247 students in Samanalkulam Government’s Tamil Mixed School and Muruganur Sarada Vidyalaya during a brief ceremony on Tuesday (9).
     
     
  • Handicapped Mannar Civilians Receive Gratis Artificial Limbs

     Artificial legs and limbs, to the value of Rs 6 lakhs, donated by Centre for Handicapped in Kandy to the 54 Division and 542 Brigade in Mannar, were distributed among civilians as one more project, meant for the welfare of poor civilians. The recent community project got underway at 542 Brigade Headquarters premises during a brief ceremony, headed by Brigadier M.A.M Dias, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division. 

  • 55 Division New Clock Tower & Archway Opened


    A grand ceremony, comprised of a military parade and a special Hindu Pooja at Mulliyan Kovil, declared opened the newly-built clock tower and the main archway to the 55 Division Headquarters, serving Vettalakerni, Jaffna on Friday (5). Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) attending the ceremony as the chief guest, was greeted with a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour.
  • Welioya & Kebithigollewa Based Troops Perform Community Roles


    Troops serving the 622 Brigade Headquarters under Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) in the past two weeks pursued a series of community - oriented projects in Welioya and Kebithigollewa Divisional Secretariat areas. Of them, many drought-stricken civilians praised the Army for their support in supplying drinking water continuously for them for more than 10 days, due to scarcity of water in Gajabapura, Monarawewa, Kalyanipura Stage I and III.
  • Army Undertakes to Build New Hindu Kovil


    Army troops, in response to a request, made by Singapore-resident Mr & Mrs Dr S Suhumaran, have offered construction assistance to put up a new Kovil in Madukulam since local people in the area are without a proper shrine for their prayers and offerings. The new Kovil, to be named as   “Senpaga Vinayagar Kovil ” is to be completely constructed by 25 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment troops under the  611 Brigade in consultation with Hindu priests and architectural designers in the area.
  • New Civil Affairs Office in 573 Brigade Area Begins to Function


    Giving a further boost to civilians living in Kandawalai Division Secretariat in the 573 Brigade Headquarters area, a new office for Civil Affairs Coordination was recently set up at Kandawalai, Kilinochchi. This new wing expects to coordinate civil affairs and find solutions to many civil-related issues as early as possible in coordination with state authorities, like the Division/District Secretariats.
