Artificial legs and limbs, to the value of Rs 6 lakhs, donated by Centre for Handicapped in Kandy to the 54 Division and 542 Brigade in Mannar, were distributed among civilians as one more project, meant for the welfare of poor civilians.
The recent community project got underway at 542 Brigade Headquarters premises during a brief ceremony, headed by Brigadier M.A.M Dias, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division.
Representatives of the donors from Kandy Centre for Handicapped, 542 Brigade Commander, 542 Brigade Civil Coordinating Officer and several other invitees joined the occasion to donate those artificial accessories to civilians who had no means to purchase them on their own.
