  • CDS addresses troops and attends Poya Day religious rites

    Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Daya Sandagiri during a brief visit to Jaffna last Thursday (18) spoke to a cross section of his Senior Officers and sailors and attended a religious ceremony to coincide with the Full Moon Poya.

    The crusader against LTTE terrorism and the leading proponent of peace and unitary status of Sri Lanka, Mr. Lakshman Kadiragarmar (MP), Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs, who adorned the Sri Lankan image across the world, bade farewell to the Nation he adored so much at a simple but dignified funeral ceremony with full state honours on Monday (15) evening at Independence Square, Colombo 7.

    Beloved parents, affectionate wife and true friends of the posthumously promoted LTTE slain Corporal H.K.A. Hendeniya paid their last homage to their son, husband and comrade at Akuramboda general cemetery in Matale.

    Lance Corporal H. K. A HENDENIYA (S/306406) of Seventh Battalion, Sri Lanka Light Infantry of No. 22, YAMAMMULLA, AKURAMBODA, MATALE, was the latest valiant soldier to die in an LTTE sniper attack on Tuesday (16) morning while on duty at the LTTE Army post at KESELWATTE in MUTUR.

    Medical Superintendent and Chief Eye Surgeon at Vavuniya hospital recently acknowledged a sum of Rs 100,000/- from soldiers attached to Wanni Headquarters for construction of a new wing to the Eye Surgery section, Vavuniya Hospital.
