    Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army attending the final phase of the religious ceremonies that invoke blessings on the 62nd Army Anniversary offered alms to 62 members of the Maha Sangha at Bodhirajaramaya, Panagoda Saturday (8) noon. Marking the culmination of the religious component in the commemorative arrangement that began at Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya on October 1, 2011, the Maha Sangha after transferring merits on fallen War Heroes, chanted Seth Pirith and blessed the Army and its future onward march.

    A high ranking delegation of United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) visited Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni on Friday (07) to discuss matters, pertaining to the UNWFP future projects planned for Wanni. The delegation met Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, Security Forces Wanni and held discussions on their planned action programme.
     
  • GR Disable Sportsmen Clinch 175 Medals in Army Para Games - 2011


    Gajaba Regiment (GR) disable sportsmen who clinched the overall Championship in the recent Army Para Games - 2011 have bagged 65 Gold Medals, 60 Silver Medals and 50 Bronze Medals creating 27 new records in the recent tournament. GR sportsmen excelled in wheelchair Basketball, Badminton and Athletics posing a challenge to the Sri Lanka Light Infantry.....

    Former Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardena accompanied by Mrs. Jayawardena visited Kilinochchi area recently (09) to promote cricket at school level in Northern Province. Mahela in collaboration with ‘Guna Jaya’ foundation donated a large stock of cricket bats, balls, pads, stumps, mats etc to four schools in Kilinochchi in order to boost the game in the area.
