The ‘Guna Jaya Sathuta Padanama’ (Foundation of Goodness), headed by Mr Kusil Gunewardena, Trustee, in the company of several of its leading members including former Cricket Captain Mahela Jayawardana recently donated a large stock of sports items and 100 bicycles to the students in Wanni during a ceremony at Vavuniya Tamil Maha Vidyalaya.
This Foundation which has been providing humanitarian assistance to the North for a long time earlier in mid September distributed 210 more push bicycles among resettled families in Mankulam and adjoining areas during a brief ceremony at Mankulam Maha Vidyalaya, Mankulam.
On the same occasion, those donors gifted the children at Vavuniya Tamil Maha Vidyalaya with a stock of sport accessories like bats, balls, wickets, leather boots, etc among cricket enthusiasts after a brief instructive workshop.
Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, Security Forces, Wanni, Brigadiers P.U.S Withanage, P.M.S.A Pallemulla, Lieutenant Colonel K.R.S.P.K Kahagalle and several other officers were associated with these donation ceremonies.
