Anniversary Day Ceremonies End With Hospital Visit

The second leg of the Army 62nd Anniversary commemorative arrangements covered the Commander Lieutenant General Jayasuriya’s customary visit to meet recuperating War Heroes at Narahenpita Military Hospital.

Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya visited War Heroes under treatment in each ward and distributed gift parcels among them. A few senior Seva Vanitha Army Branch members also joined the Commander and spoke to each and every one of the inmates after distribution of gift parcels.

The Commander with a view to finding out more details about their well-being, health and medical needs spoke to many of those patients as well as medical specialists separately during his stay in the hospital.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya before his exit from the premises inspected the work site of the new military hospital complex under construction. He also had a look at the blue print of the proposed new storied building that would ease the prevailing congestion among the patients.

Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Medical Advisor, Brigadier Kamal Sumanapala, Director Medical Services and several other senior officers accompanied the visiting Commander on the inspection tour.

During the afternoon phase of the day’s ceremonies, the Commander met with a representative gathering of officers and other ranks at the Army Headquarters to share a cup of tea, a feature that has been practised as a symbol for furtherance of goodwill and collective consciousness in the Army. During the meet, the Commander exchanged views and his thoughts with the attendees at the customary tea party and inquired about different assignments, being performed at respective formation levels.
