  • Troops at SFHQ-West Mark First Day in Office; Get New People's Bank Branch


    As is the practice, troops at the Security Forces Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) too began their first day in office for the New Year with formalities during a simple ceremony at SFHQ-West office at Panagoda. Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, SFHQ-West addressed the troops after the Commander’s message and the state allegiance pledge were read out to the gathering of troops.

  • 5 SLAC Marks Its Anniversary


    Giving pride of place to religious observances and collective events, the 5 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (5 SLAC) at Pangolla, marked its anniversary on Tuesday (7). After commemorating fallen and disable War Heroes of 5 SLAC, the day’s agenda kicked off with a string of entertaining features, such as musical chairs, hurdle races, tug of war and lime balancing at their Ironside Camp, Pangolla.

    681 Brigade troops of 68 Division under Security Force Headquarters, Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) with financial support received from ‘Global Village Friendship Organization’ of South Korea, built a new house for a widow in Mullaittivu area after her plight was brought to the notice.     Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe assumed office at the auspicious time as the new Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on Friday (January 9) during a simple ceremony.   • Sprinter Amarasekara Gifted with a New House


    Appreciative of achievements hitherto made in the field of sports and laurels he has fetched to both the Army and the country at large as a veteran sprinter, Warrant Officer-1 D.A.P Sampath Amarasekara of 6 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) of the Army, was awarded a modern house on Thursday (9) by the Army with sponsorship support received from a few donors.
  • New Jaffna Commander Takes Over after Relinquishment of Maj Gen Hathurusinghe


    The newly-appointed, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), Major General Udaya Perera, the former Kilinochchi Commander (SFHQ-KLN), assumed office on Friday (10). Amid religious rites and rituals, he symbolically signed an official document at the auspicious minute and inaugurated the office. A Guard Turnout, Guard of Honour plus a Three-planting event signified the occasion.


  • New Mullaittivu Commander Begins Work after Major General Mark's Farewell


    Major General N.A.J.C Dias assumed duties as the sixth Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on Wednesday (8) after relinquishing his duties as Adjutant General in the Army. In accordance with military traditions, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour saluted the new Commander on arrival at the SFHQ-MLT premises.

  • New Military Secretary Takes Over Office


    Major General K.A.D.A Karunasekara of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment assumed office as Military Secretary at Army Headquarters after a brief religious ceremony.  Major General Karunasekara who is also the SLLI Colonel of the Regiment served as Master General, Master General Ordnance Branch at Army Headquarters before he was appointed to the new office.
  • 100 Jaffna Students Receive Army Schols


    Barely a few hours after the new Jaffna Commander, Major General Udaya Perera took reins, he was invited to distribute 100 scholarships among school children, housed at Konapulam Open Welfare Centre (Muham) in Konapulam on Friday (10). Under this programme, each student is to receive Rs 500/= as a scholarship every month for their studies until the child grows up.
