As is the practice, troops at the Security Forces Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) too began their first day in office for the New Year with formalities during a simple ceremony at SFHQ-West office at Panagoda.
Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, SFHQ-West addressed the troops after the Commander’s message and the state allegiance pledge were read out to the gathering of troops.
Major General A.K.S Perera urged all members to be well-disciplined while performing duties since the public now highly appreciate development roles of the troops across the country.
Meanwhile, on 9 January, a People’s Bank branch, established in a new building at the Panagoda Army cantonment was opened as a New Year bonanza to the troops.
The ceremony, headed by Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander, SFHQ-West was attended by senior Bank officials including Mr Boniface Silva, Deputy General Manager Operations, Mr N Wasantha Kumara, Chief Executive Officer – People’s Bank and Mr P.D.Z. Gunawardana, Assistant General Manager, West. Several Senior Officers of the Army were also present.
