    Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan Gunathilaka with a view to receiving an update on Wanni security arrangements in place made a trip down to Vavuniya on Monday (19). Major General A.K.S Perera, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni received the visiting Chief of Defence Staff on arrival at the Wanni Security Forces Headquarters premises.

  • Tournament Championship Goes to 1 Field Engineer Regiment

    Inter-Regiment Athletic Tournament of Engineer Corps of the Army ended recently at Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, awarding the overall championship trophy to the 1 Field Engineers Regiment. The tournament, intending to promote athletic skills among all Army personnel serving Engineer Regiments, continued for two days with the participation of more than 200 athletes.

  • UN Special Representative Holds Talks with Visiting Commander


    Acting Head of the Department of the Peacekeeping Operations and Assistant Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Mr Edmond Mulet, who is also the Head of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) and Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, had a round of discussion with the visiting Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, currently in New York.
     
  • MINUSTAH Force Commander Shows Exact Locations of SRIBAT Deployments


    Major General Luiz Ramos, Force Commander to the MINUSTAH, the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Haiti towards the end of his meeting with the visiting Sri Lanka’s Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya using an area map, explained to him where Sri Lankan troops (SRIBAT) have been deployed and how operational duties are performed.
     
  • Workshops & Coaching Camps on Beach Volleyball Conducted


    A few workshops on beach volleyball for the disable and sitting volleyball were conducted recently for the benefit of disable War Heroes who are interested in the game. Those workshops and coaching camps took place at Ambepussa Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) gymnasium, Wadduwa Holiday Resort and National Youth Centre, Maharagama.

    Haiti-based Sri Lankan troops (SRIBAT) serving the MINUSTAH, the UN Peacekeeping Mission accorded a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour to their visiting Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on Wednesday (21) upon his arrival at the SRIBAT Headquarters in Leogane. Lieutenant General Jayasuriya welcomed by the SRIBAT Commander, Colonel Jaliya Senaratne, as the first leg of the day’s itinerary inspected the Guard Turnout....
