Army Undertakes One More Mega Project to Train Disable War Heroes

Elaborate arrangements are now underway to mark the forthcoming 62nd Army Anniversary and Army Day (October 10) under the direction of Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, giving pride of place to religious observances. The precursor to the commemorative events, the inaugural Army Flag blessing ceremony at the most sacred Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi precincts with the participation of the Commander of the Army will take place on October 1, 2011 as is the practice every year.
Those who made it to the BMICH on Friday (2) evening were treated to a perfect treat of unique and engaging classical music as Kalashuri Amarasiri Peiris ‘Kanyavi’ went on the boards to a packed audience of music-lovers. The musical evening, organized by 1 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps on behalf of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps Seva Vanitha Unit featured a rare contribution of variety of classical and Ragadhari music, made extremely popular by the likes of Amarasiri Peiris.
The Army, geared to go hand in hand with the fast developing technological innovations worldwide established its own Voice/Data Network covering more than thirty Directorates and Branches at the Army Headquarters, six Security Forces Headquarters, fourteen Divisions/Task Forces and twenty-two Regimental Headquarters, to start with. This Voice/Data Communication Network, a visionary concept, mooted by Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army, is to cover island-wide all Army formations within a few weeks.
The ongoing three-week long joint military Exercise, ‘Cormorant Strike II - 2011’ in Trincomalee, led by the Army on Saturday (03) had its one of the most daring feats, ‘Hostage Rescue Mission’ in the McHeyzer Stadium in the presence of a distinguished gathering of invitees, including the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya. The three-week long ‘Ex - Cormorant Strike II - 2011’, comprised of about 4000 of Army, Navy and Air Force Officers and Other Ranks.....
