  • Panagoda Students Meet Fellow Students in Inuvil

    Twenty teachers and sixteen students, some together with their family members from the Army school at Panagoda made a goodwill visit to Puthumadam Roman Catholic Primary School at Inuvil, Jaffna and met teachers and students there. These visiting teachers and students gave away gift parcels containing school items to those students during a simple ceremony, held at the school. They also donated some office equipment to the school on the same occasion.

  • 300 More Mannar Students Receive Gift Parcels


    Over 300 school students, selected from Palampiddi and other areas in the Mannar district were recently gifted with school uniform cloths, exercise books and school accessories, following sponsorships, offered by the Maha Karuna Organization in Singapore and Sri Sai Baba Centre at Gampaha. Sponsors of the event, Ven Gunarathana of the Maha Karuna Organization in Singapore and Mr Tissa Karunaratne.....
     
  • SFHQ-J to Educate Resettled Civilians on Mine Risks

    Newly resettled civilians in the Jaffna peninsula were recently enlightened on risks involved in landmines and other explosive devices as part of the ongoing Civil-Military Co-operation in Jaffna, although those areas remain completely de-mined. Nagarkovil area, one of the LTTE’s highly mined areas in the past during the battles for supremacy was selected as the pilot venue for this project.....

  • More Ex-Combatants Socialized after Rehabilitation

    One more batch of 150 ex-LTTE combatants, fully rehabilitated after undergoing computer training, masonry, music and several other disciplines under office of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, walked away free last Friday (12) to be reunited with their parents and guardians. The occasion wore festive garbs as a group of those rehabilitees who formed their own music band entertained the gathering and rent the air with a number of Tamil and Sinhala melodies as the crowd burst into applause.....

  • Maj Gen Udaya Perera Elected President, IFP-US Army War College


    Maj Gen Udaya Perera has been elected as President of the International Fellows Programme (IFP) at the United States Army War College (USAWC). He was elected to hold this prestigious position by senior military officers from 67 countries, and it is the first time in the history a Sri Lankan military officer was elected to hold this post.   • Meetings Evaluate Ground Realities

     
    In order to take all necessary preventive measures as regards harmful rumours, concocted stories and anti-social propaganda schemes, the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi had a joint meeting with divisional General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Police authorities and other relevant officers on Tuesday (16). The same meeting focused adverse effects being propagated following telecast of the Channel 4 video film among civilians living in the region.
     
  • New Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Assumes Duties

     
    Major General Chandana Rajaguru, assumed duties as new Commissioner General of Rehabilitation on Monday (15) after his nomination was approved by His Excellency, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.  He will serve this office whilst holding his substantial appointment as the Director General, Infantry at the Army Headquarters. Major General Rajaguru is among the senior most officers in the Sinha Regiment and is an old boy of Kingswood College, Kandy.....
