Over 300 school students, selected from Palampiddi and other areas in the Mannar district were recently gifted with school uniform cloths, exercise books and school accessories, following sponsorships, offered by the Maha Karuna Organization in Singapore and Sri Sai Baba Centre at Gampaha.
Sponsors of the event, Ven Gunarathana of the Maha Karuna Organization in Singapore and Mr Tissa Karunaratne, Chairman, Sri Sai Baba Centre at Gampaha and Brigadier A. Kariyakarawana, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division were present at the ceremony for distribution of those gift parcels to school-goers, selected from down-trodden families.
A large gathering of teachers, parents and Army personnel attended the occasion, held at Thatsanamarathamadu Radem School in the 611 Brigade area. Brigade Commander K.G.D Perera too took part in the distribution ceremony.
