Maj Gen Udaya Perera Elected President, IFP-US Army War College

Maj Gen Udaya Perera has been elected as President of the International Fellows Programme (IFP) at the United States Army War College (USAWC).

He was elected to hold this prestigious position by senior military officers from 67 countries, and it is the first time in the history a Sri Lankan military officer was elected to hold this post.

Each year, approximately 70 senior military officers from 70 different countries are extended an invitation from the Chief of Staff of the United States Army to attend the U.S. Army War College.

According to the USAWC website, the IFP adds a dimension to the USAWC which significantly broadens the academic environment for both students and faculty. The association and collaboration of senior officers, destined to hold national level policymaking positions is an invaluable opportunity to improve mutual understanding of national security problems, operations, and preparedness.
