  • Commander Reviews Facilities Available for University Entrants Under Leadership Training


    The second leg of the Leadership Training course for the university entrants conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army has commenced at several locations concurrently. The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya visited this morning (27) one such location at Kalettewa where university entrants receive instructions and to review the availability of facilities for the students.

  • Workshop Held to Promote Small Industry Interests


    The Sinhala Kantha Abhivurdhi and Sanwardana Padanama (Foundation for Betterment and Development of Ladies), extending its helping hand to Vavuniya District, conducted a three-day long workshop for women on ‘Management of Small Industry Products’ at Samanalakulam Maha Vidyalaya during June 24 - 26. Mrs Indrani Iriyagolla, the famous social worker for promotion of women’s skills headed the workshop, attended by forty women in the area and several senior officers in the Army.
     
  • Famous Iranamadu Tank to be One Fresh Water Fishing Hub


    Iranamadu reservoir in Kilinochchi, the largest inland lake in the Northern Province is set to be one of the fresh water fishing hubs soon with the distribution of 50 fishing canoes among resettled civilians in the area. Under the ongoing ‘Uthuru Wasanthaya’ (Northern Spring) development programme, those fishing canoes were given away during a brief ceremony by both Hon. Namal Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament and Hon.
