  • GR Gymnastic Players Win Championship


    The finals and the closing ceremony of the Inter Regiment Gymnastics Tournament (novices) in the Army, organized by the Army Gymnastic Sport Committee, took place Friday (13) evening at Panagoda Army Cantonment. Major General R.A Kaduwela, Chief Signal Officer, witnessed the final encounter as the Chief Guest.
  • 'Exercise - Cormorant Strike IV -“ 2013,' Enters Final Week as Training Modules Intensify


    The Army-organized, ‘Exercise - Cormorant Strike IV – 2013,’ now underway in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka entered its final week on Tuesday (17), rousing more excitement and tension to the participants, including foreign representatives. Para jumps, Sea landing training, Path finding (tracking) and Obstacle Breaching demonstrations dominated the day and continue to take place within next 24 hours as the Exercise is entering a decisive phase. 
  • Commander's Courtesy Call on Air Force Commander: Impressed with SLAF Standards


    Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake paid a courtesy call on Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, Commander of the Air Force at Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Headquarters Tuesday (17) morning. This is the first formal visit the Commander of the Army, made to the SLAF Headquarters upon his assumption of duties on 1 August 2013 as the Commander of the Army. A Guard of Honour greeted the visiting Commander of the Army.

         

  • Troops Restore Up-country Areas Affected by Rains


    Troops serving 11 Division under Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) quickly responded to the damages, caused by inclement weather and torrential rains that swept across Kandy, Nawalapitiya, Talwatta, Meepitiya, Cholakanda, Rajapihilla Mawatha, etc in the Central province and restored transport and other infrastructure facilities in the past three-days. 
  • More Lands Released


    Fifty more land blocks that were used by troops in Thondamanaru area were recently returned to their owners in Jaffna during a brief ceremony at Thondamanaru. During the same programme, a stock of building materials including roofing sheets and cement bags were handed over by Commander, 515 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) to the needy people in the area. 
  • Governor's Office & Kurunegala Traders Felicitate New Commander of the Army




    The office of the Governor for North Western Province Mr Tissa R Balalla and members of the Kurunegala Sinhala Traders Association on Tuesday (17) evening separately held a Bodhi Pooja Pinkama and a felicitation ceremony at Kurunegala respectively to invoke blessings and felicitate the new Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, a native from Kurunegala area.
