  • 53 More Land Blocks Released


    Giving further boost to the civilians, 53 more land blocks which were used by 52 Division troops in Varani, area were recently returned to their owners in Jaffna on 26 August during a ceremony at Advanced Infantry Platoon Training School at Eluthumadduval.   • Pinkam Held at Deegavapiya to Bless All Communities


    A special Bodhi Pooja plus chanting of Pirith at historic Deegavapi temple in Deegavapiya invoked blessings on all three communities, living in the area and adjacent Ampara and Akkraipattu areas on August 31. A large group of devotees from Kandy, led by Katugastota Sadaham Kirana Organization organized the religious arrangement in cooperation with Task Force 3 Headquarters at Akkaraipattu.
  • New DGGS at Army Headquarters Assumes Office


    The newly-appointed Director General General Staff (DGGS) at Army Headquarters, Major General S.W.L Daulagala assumed duties this morning (12) during a brief religious ceremony. Amid chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha, the new DGGS signed an official document, signifying the acceptance of the new appointment soon after the symbolic oil lamp was lit by him and senior officers present at the occasion.
