    Japan-Lanka Friendship Association, whose magnanimous gesture of goodwill was showering the Sri Lanka Army with much-needed medical accessories, service vehicles and ambulances in the past twelve years, has on its own come forward to assist the ongoing ‘Abimansala’ (Wellness Resort) construction under ‘Brave Hearts’ project at Anuradhapura, being spearheaded by the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) on the instructions of the Commander of the Army.

  • Sri Lanka Army Service Corps Boxers Show Colours in Annual Meet

    Boxing, a combat sport and martial art that uses fists is nothing new to the sportsmen and women in the Army. The Inter Regiment Boxing Championship Meet, organized every year on a grand scale testifies to the enormous enthusiasm of officers as well as ordinary soldiers in the organization. This year’s Inter Regiment Boxing Championship, as scheduled took place at Panagoda Indoor Stadium between 29 - 30 July.   • SLAVF Contribution to Past Challenges Hailed During its Athletic Meet 2010

    The curtain came down on Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Inter Regiment Athletic Meet 2010 Thursday (29) afternoon where Commander of the Army, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest gave away medals and trophies to the winners in the annual event. Around 800 competitors representing 111 volunteer battalions competed for medals in this three day long athletic meet that got off the ground on Tuesday (27) at Colombo Sugathadasa Stadium.

  • Court Martial Adjourned as Defence Counsel Indisposed

    The Court Martial I hearing charges against General Sarath Fonseka’s alleged participation in political work began its sittings as scheduled on Monday (2nd August) and was adjourned until 9.30 a.m. on 9th August 2010 as General Fonseka’s Defence Counsel Mr Rienzie Arsacularatne was indisposed.   • Malwatte Maha Nayaka Visits Kilinochchi & Vavuniya with Gifts to School Children

    Most Ven Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Maha Nayaka Thero of Malwatte Chapter during a recent tour to the northern Kilinochchi and Vavuniya districts gave away books and school accessories to over 1500  students in Vavuniya.The Maha Nayaka Thero, as the first leg of his tour visited the new Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) where the visiting religious dignitary gifted a water purification unit to the Headquarters (SFHQ-KLN) as a gesture of goodwill.
