  • One More Patriotic War Hero Receives New House

    Patriotic services of one more War Hero who shouldered the burden of defending the country in military operations, Jayasikuru, Riviresa, etc, at the risk of his own legs and limbs, were once again lauded and appreciated by the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), awarding him a new house at Gampaha. Come 4th April morning when Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB, accompanied by several senior SVAB officials attended the ceremony that symbolically awarded the house to disable War Hero, Corporal R.M. Sunil Shantha, amidst religious rites and rituals.

  • Commander of the Army Meets Indonesian Commander & High Ranking Defence Officials

    The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya during a four day official tour to the Republic of Indonesia called on the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army General George Toisutta and several high ranking Indonesian defence officials. The tour took place from 30th March to 02nd April. As one of the most important meetings in his itinerary, General Jayasuriya met his Indonesian counterpart, General George Toisutta at his official quarters in Jakarta and discussed matters of mutual interest and importance.

  • Public Seek Army Advice on Farming

    Army troops serving the Sector II Army Camp complex at Kohuwala, following the success story behind their mini farm, are offering their expertise on agricultural techniques to the public on request. The small farm, run by soldiers in the complex produces green chillies, cabbage, brinjals, tomatoes, lady’s fingers, bitter gourd and several other kinds of leafy vegetables which are sent for sale at the Seva Vanitha Army Branch, managed outlet at Battaramulla ‘Lakviru Sevana’.

  • Both Officers & Soldiers Receive New Housing Units at Manning Town

    Alleviating the problem of housing of Army personnel to a certain extent, Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) soldiers, on the direct intervention and instructions of the Commander of the Army, has managed to complete the construction of 9 blocks with  72 residential units for the use of both officers and other ranks at Manning Town, Narahenpita. The new housing project in five-storeyed buildings was initiated as a direct contribution to His Excellency, the President’s island-wide one million house construction scheme. Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya after taking office took a personal interest in resolving housing issues and made arrangements to accelerate the completion of the project.

  • Kandy Viru Kekulu Kids Show Talents in Annual Sports Meet

    Kids at Viru Kekulu pre-school, Kandy had their Annual Sports Meet at the pre-school premises in Kandy on Tuesday (5).
