  • Civil Employees Serving Army Play Cricket


    A goodwill softball cricket encounter between Provincial Accounts Department at Panagoda and Directorate of Civil Affairs at Colombo, got underway at Meegoda Maha Vidyalaya grounds on Saturday (30).  In the encounter, cricketers from Directorate of Civil Affairs scoring 210 runs beat the rival and reached a comfortable victory at the end of 15 overs only with 6 wickets out.

    4 Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) tradesmen of the Sri Lanka Army on Friday (5) evening, in what could be called another milestone on the path to recovery and development, transformed the former St John Fish Market at Pettah to be a hub of gold, 'Colombo Gold Centre" and vested it with the public during a ceremony, attended by Hon Basil Rajapaksa (MP), Minister of Economic Development and Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary to Ministry of Defence and Urban Development, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake and a host of other invitees.

  • English Language Course 2 for Officers Ends

     
    The second of the series, ‘English Course No 2 conducted for officers serving different battalions in the East, ended on Saturday (30). The Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) organized it. On the directions of Major General Lal Perera, Commander SFHQ-E, this English Language skill development course continued during 45 working days.
     
  • Eastern Province Community Projects Help People

     
    8 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), 8 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA), 27 SLNG and 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) under 232 Brigade, 222 Brigade, 23 Division, 22 Division and 24 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E), responding to the needs of the public, recently went on distributing more water stocks among families, living in Koralaipattu, Sinhalagama, Ilangaturei, Karakamunai, Ariyamakeni, Bakmitiyawa and Karamunai areas.

    224 Brigade and 22 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) at the request of state authorities extended their full support for ongoing housing projects and commenced initial construction of 50 new houses for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Sampoor area during a brief ceremony held on Monday (01).

    A team of 7 officers and 3 Senior Non Commissioned Officers of  the People’s Liberation Army of People’s Republic of China, headed by Lt Colonel Gao Guangkin joined the ongoing ‘Exercise Cormorant Strike – V’ on Sunday (7 September 2014), the latest and the biggest foreign team, in addition to six other countries joining it.
