224 Brigade and 22 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) at the request of state authorities extended their full support for ongoing housing projects and commenced initial construction of 50 new houses for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Sampoor area during a brief ceremony held on Monday (01).
IDPs are currently housed in temporary relief camps in Kiliveddi, Manachchenale and Pattidal Welfare Centre. On Monday (1), the cornerstones for all proposed 50 homes were laid in a brief ceremony.
Mr. N. Pradeepan, District Secretary - Muttur, Mr. S. Arulrasa, Additional District Secretary - Trincomalee and Commander of 224 Brigade, together with civil officials participated in the occasion.
