  • First Big Match in Mullaittivu Draws Huge Crowds


    For the first time in its history, Mullaittivu had the rare chance of witnessing a grand Big Match between the cricketers at Oddusudan Maha Vidyalayam and Vidyananda Maha Vidyalayam during May 31-June 1 at Oddusudan Maha Vidyalayam ground. 64 Division of the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) has since early last year been promoting cricket among school-goers by donating cricket equipment, leather balls, etc and coaching them.  The conduct of Murali Cup-2012 by troops ignited their enthusiasm for cricket among schools.

  • First Batch at Oddusudan IT Centre Receives Certificates


    Oddusudan Youth IT Centre, inaugurated on 1 November 2012 as one more wing of the government’s Nenasala projects, produced its first IT qualified batch of students to receive their certificates of proficiency. This IT Centre was further supported by the ‘Foundation of Goodness’, by providing a permanent IT instructor, more computers, accessories, multi media facilities plus a fully air-conditioned computer laboratory.

  • Army Troops Restore Traffic Clearing Roads


    Strong and gushing winds that swept across largely the South Western coastal belt during wee hours on Saturday (8) causing disruptions to traffic and public places prompted troops of the Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) to immediately act and clear those hurdles within a couple of hours before dawn.   • Suspect in Kovil Charity Till Theft Apprehended


    Sri Lanka Army personnel, together with Policemen on Friday (7) rounded up and apprehended one of the suspects, involved in the theft of cash in the Vellaveli Pullayar Kovil charity box at Batticaloa. Investigations confirmed that two people, Nadaraja Rajmohan and Mailwanam Shivarasa, both resident in Sinnawatta, Vellaveli area were the main suspects and one of them, Mailwanam Shivarasa had fled the area.
