Troops of the 64 Division in Mullaittivu in close coordination with the Thunukkai Zonal Education Office organized the conduct of a sports meet for children with special needs in Thunukkai and Oddusudan areas at Oddusudan Maha Vidyalayam playground on May 29 with the blessings of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT).
Visually-handicapped, mentally-retarded, physically disable and disease-affected children of low income group families were thus facilitated during this sports meet to display their different skills to the satisfaction of all those who were present at the event.
Brigadier H.W.M.S.D.B. Pananwala, General Officer Commanding, 64 Division attended the event as the Chief Guest. Mrs Malani Weniton, Zonal Directress of Education for Thunukkaki Division, Mr T. Thireshkumar, Divisional Secretary for Oddusudan, Mr S. Kanagaratnam, Presidential Coordinator for Mullaittivu District, Mr Pangayachelwan, Oddusudan Divisional Education Officer, parents, teachers and a gathering of state officials witnessed the day’s event.
