Suspect in Kovil Charity Till Theft Apprehended

Sri Lanka Army personnel, together with Policemen on Friday (7) rounded up and apprehended one of the suspects, involved in the theft of cash in the Vellaveli Pullayar Kovil charity box at Batticaloa.

Investigations confirmed that two people, Nadaraja Rajmohan and Mailwanam Shivarasa, both resident in Sinnawatta, Vellaveli area were the main suspects and one of them, Mailwanam Shivarasa had already fled the area.

Army personnel on a tip-off rushed to the area with the Police and apprehended the suspect and handed over to the Police in the area.

Several days ago, the charity till at this Hindu temple was burgled and cash stolen, causing anger and disappointment among the devotees. However, information received by the Army led to the Police arrest of one suspect.
