    Sri Lanka Army Woman cricketers beat Matara SC by 318 runs in the Womens Division I (limited overs) Cricket Tournament, organized by Sri Lanka Cricket Association, played at Army Cricket Grounds, Panagoda on July 31. Excellent performances, displayed by Private H.I.S. Mendis, scored 105 runs while Sergeant S.D.N.S. Karunarathne took 3 wickets for the victory over Matara SC.

  • SLLI Best Battalions for Year 2014 Selected


    Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) recently selected their best battalions for the year 2014. A 7- member board visited all 24 regular and volunteer SLLI units and inspected relevant areas including “G” matters, “A” matters, Logistic matters, Legal matters, accounts, audits and sports. From the regular units, 26 SLLI was adjudged the best Battalion while 7 SLLI became the runners-up.
  • New Buddha Shrine of 661 Brigade Premises Opened


    The newly constructed Buddha shrine of the 661 Brigade Headquarters under the 66 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) was opened for veneration during a simple religious ceremony on Tuesday (29). The religious unit remained a spiritual need for the soldiers serving the Brigade premises for a long time.


  • Newly-Constructed Billets & Badminton Court Opened


    Commander Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), Major General Boniface Perera on Thursday (30) opened two new billets for soldiers and the new badminton court of the 62 Division Headquarters at the request of the General Officer Commanding, 62 Division.     Jayagrahanaya’ (Success) Foundation in Colombo provided a push bicycle to a child of a low - income family in Hambanthota area on Wednesday (29) during a simple gathering at Bandagiriya primary school. The Grade 9 student, M.M Imesha Sandeepani who lost her mother during the Tsunami catastrophe, is now living under the care of her grandmother but has to travel a long way to school back and forth due to scarcity of transport facilities.
