New Buddha Shrine of 661 Brigade Premises Opened

The newly constructed Buddha shrine of the 661 Brigade Headquarters under the 66 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) was opened for veneration during a simple religious ceremony on Tuesday (29).

The religious unit remained a spiritual need for the soldiers serving the Brigade premises for a long time. Major General A.P. de Z Wickramarathne, General Officer Commanding, 66 Division as the Chief Guest ceremonially, opened the new Buddha shrine at the request of the 661 Brigade Commander.

The new Buddha Shrine was constructed under the directions of Colonel G.M.C.K.B. Ekanayake, Commander, 661 Brigade with the active support of 15 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 5 (V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) who provided labour assistance. The financial contributions were donated by the officers and other ranks of the 661 Brigade.
