‘Jayagrahanaya’ (Success) Foundation in Colombo provided a push bicycle to a child of a low - income family in Hambanthota area on Wednesday (29) during a simple gathering at Bandagiriya primary school.

The Grade 9 student, M.M Imesha Sandeepani who lost her mother during the Tsunami catastrophe, is now living under the care of her grandmother but has to travel a long way to school back and forth due to scarcity of transport facilities.

This need was brought to the attention when the Consultant Physician, Dr Anula Wijesundara Chairperson, ‘Success’ - Colombo was conducting a medical clinic at the same school a few weeks back on July 4, 2015.

Colonel K.H.K Kottewatte, 122 Brigade Commander having learnt the difficulties of this student brought the requirement to the notice of Dr. Anula Wijesundara, Chairperson, ‘Success’ - Colombo seeking patronage for purchase of a bicycle.

The ladies’ bicycle worth a few thousands of rupees was delivered to the 122 Brigade Commander for delivery onward to the beneficiary. The coordination of the project was done by Brigadier W.A.N.M Weerasinghe, General Officer Commanding 12 Division.

Teachers and students of the school together with next of kin of the recipient were present at the occasion.
