    Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake has directed the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) to conduct a parallel investigation into the alleged involvement of three soldiers in the contract murder at Wellawa and initiate a Court of Inquiry (CoI) for trial.   • Sea of School Students Throng Closing Special 'Searchlight Tattoo' Show



    Popular demands of unprecedented numbers of school students at the extended final day of the Army ‘Searchlight Tattoo - 2014’ at Kurunegala Welagedara grounds, prompted the organizers to have extra facilities organized on Monday (28), exclusively for students, free of charge. With this extra morning ‘Searchlight Tattoo’ for school students, accompanied by hundreds of teachers and principals, the curtains came down on the ‘Searchlight Tattoo - 2014’ which drew a record number of visitors during four days.
  • East Troops Expand Their Humanitarian Roles


    A Shramadana campaign to clean Sri Mahindarama temple at Arunapura, Dimbulagala together with the villagers was conducted by 11 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) of the 232 Brigade of 23 Division under Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) on 22 April.  On the same day, 223 Brigade Headquarters and 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) under SFHQ-E celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival on a grand scale.................
  • Mine Awareness Programme of Army Engineers Continues


    Nearly 250 students and teachers and over 100 adults took part in two separate mine awareness programmes, organized by the 10 Field Sri Lanka Engineers of the Sri Lanka Army early this month. Educating the children and villagers of respective areas and prevention of hazardous incidents occurred due to explosion of mines and UXOs (Unexploded Explosive Ordnance) was the purpose of those programmes.
  • Army Brings New Year to Kalluri Children


    7 Gajaba Regiment (7 GR) and 511 Brigade troops of Ottahapulam, Jaffna arranged an entertainment session followed by a delicious lunch for children and staff members of Kalluri Children’s Home at Atchuvely prior to the dawn of Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival, on Saturday (12). The 7 GR calypso team made the occasion a joyful day for all who sang and danced with the soldiers.

    Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on account of the International Demining Day, conducted a Mine Awareness Programme at Nelum Piyasa auditorium with the cooperation of Sri Lanka Army Demining Team, Halo Trust Organization, Dash Demining Group and Shed Organization, on Saturday (26).
