  • Postal Voting Takes Place at SLEME Headquarters


    Postal voting for the forthcoming Provincial Elections in the Northern Central Province, Sabaragamuwa Province and Eastern Province began on Monday (27).   • Abandoned 'Veytex' Complex Put to Good Use; Commander Inspects Ammo Production Process


    The 36-acre former Veytex textile industry complex with more than 15 buildings at Veyangoda, remained abandoned and unattended for more than a decade,  was put to good use by the Army after the premises were vested in the Army last year. Fulfilling a much-needed requirement of the Army, the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya wanted.....
     
     
  • Newly Built 51 More Houses Given Away


    Assisted and facilitated by the Army troops serving the 64 Division, Millennium Information Technology (MIT) and HABITAT non-governmental agencies completed the construction of 51 more new houses in Oddusudan AGA Division. Those houses were distributed among resettled people after a careful selection in co-operation with the Divisional Secretariat.
     
  • Army Renovated Mankulam Playground Opened to Public


    The famous Mankulam playground, repaired and renovated by troops of the 3 Gajaba Regiment (GR) serving under 57 Division in Kilinochchi was re-opened recently during a simple ceremony. Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), together with General Officers Commanding Divisions, Brigade Commanders and senior officers attended the occasion.
     
  • New ATM for Army Families in Panagoda

    People’s Bank in response to a request of the Security Forces Headquarters, South (SFHQ-S), installed a new ATM unit in the Kendalanda – Panagoda Army quarters premises. It was opened recently during a brief ceremony in the presence of a gathering of senior Army officers. Earlier, the Bank of Ceylon (BoC) provided the same service to the premises.
