    Vavuniya-based 25 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) officers and soldiers serving the 211 Brigade conducted a free distribution of dinner to thousands of pilgrims proceeding to Anuradhapura for religious observances on account of Poson commemoration. The Dansela, which provided dinner beginning around 5.00 p.m. went on till late into the night due to the popular demand.

    A medical camp that provided consultations and treatment for civilians in Madduvil area in the 52 Division Headquarters area of the Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ-J) was organized on Saturday (9) with the support of the Kurunegala Red Cross Society Branch. Troops and Commanding officer of the 7th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (7 VIR) Lieutenant Colonel W.M.M.K.D. Bandara, serving the 52 Division area organized the mobile clinic at Madduvil Chandramavlisa school.
  • Troops Alert Police Against Illicit Timber Fellers


    Troops serving the 54 Division areas in Mannar have alerted the Police to nab illicit tree-fellers in the dense jungles of Silawathura after members of the Army came across a large stock of timber, felled by them. During routine surveillance patrols in and around those jungles, the troops came across 80 felled trees of 12 ft tall, 120 pieces of 15 ft tall and 100 Palu trees.

    Mullaittivu Kannaki Amman Kovil had its annual one-week long Pooja on a grand scale with the participation of over 5 lakhs of devotees during May 28-June 5, 2012. On the final evening (June 4) of the ceremony, Army troops serving 591 and 592 Brigade Headquarters under the 59 Division served free vegetarian meals to over 15,000 devotees...........
